Become a Mentor (Qualified Attorneys)

Calling all Fellows!  The Informals Committee is looking for mentors to support candidates who are resitting FD1 (P2)/FD4 (P6) in October.

The idea is that a candidate who has failed these exams at least twice will be assigned a mentor to help the candidate (“mentee”) learn a good technique for passing the exam.  The mentor will mark some past paper attempts for the mentee and will spend some time (could be over the phone, online or in person) going through the past papers with the mentee, to help the mentee identify what he/she needs to do differently.

The time commitment for mentoring a mentee should be the marking time plus a couple of one- or two-hour sessions with the mentee to go through the papers.  Mentors and mentees will agree between themselves which past papers will be covered, but we recommend trying at least the two most recent FD1 (P2)/FD4 (P6) papers.

The Informals Committee hopes to find enough mentors that the workload for any individual mentor won’t be too great.  If you could support between one and three mentees, that would be excellent.

If you would like to be a mentor or you would like more information about the mentoring scheme, please fill in the form linked below. If you have any questions, please contact Mentoring Coordinator Tom Hailes at thailes@beckgreener.com.
